Floyd Mayweather VS Manny Pacquiao Net Worth
Net Worth of Mayweather and Pacquiao
Pac-Man, Manny Pacquaio hails from the Philippines. The only eight division world champion in history, this ten-time champion is both a Lt. Colonel in the Reserves and a Member of the House of Representatives. Chosen as the Fighter of the Decade for the 2000’s, Pacquaio is always in the discussion for the best pound for pound fighter on the planet.
Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. is from Grand Rapids, MI. and still undefeated to this day. Floyd's also a ten-time world champion in five weight classes. A multiple time Fighter of the Year, Mayweather matches Pacquiao with four lineal titles as the Man that beat the Man, thus giving him equal claim as the best fighter of the generation.
Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Financial Stats
These two fighters are equally matched in greatness when it comes to the gold they have worn and the accolades they have won. At 37, Floyd is slightly older than Manny, but the years in the ring have been tougher on the Filipino as he has two losses on his record, but more rounds fought inside the ring. He also has many more distractions as a business owner with ventures including a pro basketball team that he is a player-coach for.
Money Mayweather has the advantage in US endorsement dollars due to being a native English speaker and being full-time in the States. He topped the Forbes list of highest paid athletes in both 2013, and #7 in 2014 when Floyd made over $105 million in a single year. He is now the second athlete to make over $100 million in a year, with Tiger Wood's being the first athlete to achieve this goal.
Manny Pacquiao finished #11 on the Forbes Highest Paid Athlete's with a respectable $42 million earned in 2014. While Manny lost an important fight in December 2012, he recently dominated the Algieri fight and wants to fight Floyd Mayweather more now than ever before. Manny was quoted after his unanimous win, " I think this fight has to happen".
For all of their personal wealth, each has had financial issues in the past. Mayweather was sued for non-payment on a half million dollar car and had a $7+mm unpaid tax bill. This dwarfs by Manny’s supposed $75mm in tax issues in the Philippines. Most of these issues stem from poor mismanagement from the representatives keeping track of these vast fortunes, which is a full-time job all by itself.
Let’s talk the Boxers Net Worth
Manny Pacquiaois Net Worth is estimated over $150 million and counting. This is an amazing feat for someone that grew up in the abject poverty of Kibawe in the Philippines. Manny's career earnings inside the ring has netted $320 million in boxing purses.
Floyd "Money" Mayweather has a Net Worth over $300 million and seems to have a golden touch making money no matter what he does. The undefeated fighter is known for picking his fights very carefully, and then majorly promoting them with his flamboyant "money is no object" style. So far Mayweather has won over $400 million in boxing purses combined, making him the most successful boxer of all time, as far as making money in the ring goes anyway.
As impressive as both Fighters Net Worth's currently are, the numbers could drastically change in a single night. They're both pound-for-pound the greatest fighters in the world, so it would seem this fight needs to happen for the sport of boxing if for anything else. If the biggest fight of this century between Mayweather and Pacquiao never materializes, it will be a huge black-eye for the entire sport of boxing.
Pacquiao and Mayweather almost came to an agreement to fight five years ago in 2009 when both fighters were still in their prime. The bottom line is Mayweather's camp was playing games with the details of the contract almost to ensure the fight was never going to happen. The Pacquiao camp wanted this fight but was unwilling to sign a contract giving Mayweather the advantage from the beginning. After the fight was canceled, Pacquiao filed a defamation lawsuit against Mayweather and won a $114,000.00 judgment.
If Manny and Floyd never come to an agreement for this massive payday, long range Pacquiao looks to have a slight advantage in earning power after retirement due to his business ownerships, political connections, acting pedigree, and international star appeal. If this financial fight is measured in decades, the future favors Manny who's a lot more conservative than Money Mayweather's frequent spending abilities.
Unfortunately, regardless of any amount of money; a fight between the two boxers may never happen. Manny Pacquiao clearly wants this fight a lot more than Floyd Mayweather appears to want this to meet in the ring. Floyd will always be remembered as one of the most successful boxers of all time as he nears retirement. But he might also be known for ducking out of the biggest fight of his career if this doesn't happen very soon.
For all of Boxing Fans sake, hopefully, Mayweather and Pacquiao can reach a "fair agreement" for this fight to take place before its to late. It's not often two men can give a single Sport so much positive attention it desperately needs as Mixed Martial Arts continues to gain in popularity. Having the Fight of the Century never take place could be the ultimate blow knocking the Sport of Boxing out cold.
