 History Channel’s American Restorations showcases Rick’s Restorations, a lively Las Vegas shop that restores various kinds of antiques from Coke and Pepsi vending machines to old toy pedal cars and vending machines. American Restorations is a spin-off from another popular History Channel show, Pawn Stars that started October 25, 2010.

The show features several restoration projects going on and shows viewers the process of examining, taking apart, cleaning and restoring the many vintage items that are brought to Rick’s Restorations. The star of the show is millionaire Rick Dale, a restoration expert and metal artist with more than 30 years of experience fixing and restoring old, vintage items for customers, plus finding old items that are seemingly junk and expertly transforming them into shiny, new looking and working items.

Pawn Star Appearance Started the Show

American Restorations started after Dale appeared on several episodes of Pawn Stars where he and his team worked to restore several items for the Las Vegas Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, owned by Richard Harrison and his son and grandson. Dale himself has a passion for fixing up and restoring old items and began doing it at age nine when he repaired and restored an old bike his father gave him.

Besides shop owner Rick, there are several other cast and shop members featured on American Restorations. These include Dale’s teenager son Tyler Dale, his step-son Brettly Otterman, his wife Kelly Dale, his younger brother Ron, as well as shop employees Kowboy (metal polishing expert), Ted (lettering artist) and Kyle Astorga (in charge of finishing touches and reassembly). Each of these people put their own special touches and expertise into the program to make it interesting, as well as providing a look into Dale's family's lives and daily adventures working in their restoration shop.

Rick Dale has a net worth of about $3.5 million and built his "empire" up over the years through hard work, dedication and attention to detail. One day, he hopes that his son Tyler will be able to take over the Rick's Restoration shop. He has been called a miracle worker since there never seems to be an item he hasn't been able to restore and bring back to its own hidden inner beauty.
